The Local Boston Series

As a Boston-born artist, I find myself influenced by the many cafes, bays, and parks of this bustling New England city. Here are some snippets of my daily doodles and where I like to draw inspiration from.

Seaport-inspired art

Rain or shine, Seaport has a unique feel to it. Located largely along the harbor, this slice of Boston is peppered with scenic views and walking paths. On a grey day, the moody vibes really bring a certain type of beauty to the landscape. Despite the skies, I don’t experience brain fog when I’m out here smelling the salty sea and the feeling the breeze on my face.

A Busy Day in the Cafe

Tatte Bakery & Cafe | Pier 4 in Seaport
200 Pier 4 Blvd. Boston, MA

This piece is inspired by Tatte’s black-and-white aesthetic and motif both bold and elegant, serif-like lines. It is also inspired by the chaotic mornings and afternoons of the dreaded brunch time. (Weekdays can be pretty chill though.)

A bit about Tatte:

Tatte Bakery & Cafe is an ever-expanding local chain a stone’s throw from almost every corner in the Greater Boston Area (and also DC). Known for its chic look, bright spaces, Middle Eastern flavors, modern pastries, and high-quality coffee - Tatte has become a staple location for both visitors and Bostonians.

Besides its quality and convenience, one of the reasons I gravitate toward various Tattes is - they’re great places to draw! Most Tatte locations are ideal work or study spaces for cafe-dwelling digital nomads, students, and artists. Full of natural lighting, tables, window seats, outlets, and a ton of food options (even for the gluten-free folk), it’s no surprise Tatte has become a reliable space for those seeking a pretty setting to get some work done. A word of caution though - because Tatte is such a highly-sought brunch location, its work-friendly nature goes down the tubes on weekend. If you’re checking in on a Saturday or Sunday, don’t bother bringing your laptop!

Southie-inspired art

Once wicked wild and full of crime, the now tame Southie is where I spend most of my days. Though mostly filled with residents, restaurants, and an emerging bar scene, I find respite in South Boston’s beach scene.
